Finding The Perfect GMC for Your Needs
GMC designs and builds some of the automotive industry’s best pickup trucks and SUVs that always are very popular at the Leachman Buick GMC showroom. Four seasons of weather make the region’s often hilly and twisting roads very challenging to negotiate while driving. GMC makes many great pickups and SUVs with good ground clearance and two- or four-wheel drivetrains that get you through thick or thin.
Whether you need a daily driver to go to and from work, a family hauler or a dedicated work truck, our great selection of GMC pickups and SUVs can help you get through just about any kind of challenging driving conditions. The following should help you to narrow your options to find the best one to suit your transportation needs.
GMC Pickups Do Everything Very Well
GMC pickups are among the most popular with the light-duty GMC Sierra 1500 fulfilling most traditional pickup truck duties. Engine options range from a 2.7-liter four cylinder to a beefy 6.2-liter V8 that can tow up to 9,500 pounds. A 3.0-liter turbo-diesel six-cylinder motor greatly increases touring range. You can get one with a regular cabin with a split front bench or a double or crew cab that gives you four doors and seats up to six passengers.
When you want a more work-oriented pickup, the bigger GMC Sierra 2500 can tow more than 5 tons with the same cabins as the 1500. You only get one engine with the Sierra 2500, which is a beefy 6.0-liter V8 that delivers 300 horsepower to either the rear drive wheels or a 4X4 drivetrain.
If you want a more economical pickup for daily driving, the mid-size GMC Canyon fits the bill with your choice of a gasoline-fueled 2.5-liter four cylinder or a 3.6-liter V6. Another option is a Duramax 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel motor. You get your choice of an extended cabin or a crew cabin with four doors, and the Canyon can tow between 3,500 and 7,000 pounds, depending on the engine that you choose.
GMC SUVs Define Class Excellence
GMC was among the first carmakers to embrace the SUV class more than three decades ago and helped to make it a truly outstanding vehicle class. All GMC SUVs feature four doors and a rear liftgate for easy access to seating and cargo areas. Additional towing capacities make them even better at hauling large loads while premium audio systems and touchscreen navigation let you stream entertainment while traveling to your preferred destinations.
The GMC Yukon is the big daddy of the bunch and has been in production for many decades. The latest model has three rows of seating, plenty of cargo capacity and your choice of three great engines. You can choose among gasoline-fueled 5.3-liter of 6.2-liter V8 engines that produce a lot of horsepower and torque or a 3.0-liter turbo-diesel that greatly extends fuel economy and driving range.
The Yukon carries up to eight passengers in relative comfort while also holding more than 25 cubic feet of cargo space that expands to nearly 123 cubic feet with the third row seat removed and the second row lowered. You can get a Yukon with either rear-wheel drive or 4X4 that will tow nearly 4 tons on a trailer.
You could go with a mid-size GMC Acadia that works well for handling family driving duties with a removable third row of seating that lets you carry up to eight passengers. Engine options range from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four cylinder to a naturally aspirate 2.5-liter four-cylinder or a 3.6-liter V6. The Acadia holds nearly 13 cubic feet of cargo with the rear seat up, 79 cubic feet with it down, and tows between 1,000 and 4,000 pounds.
If you want a more compact SUV with good fuel economy and the GMC Terrain fulfills that duty very well. Two bucket seats in front and a bench seat in back hold up to five passengers. It holds more than 29 cubic feet of cargo with the rear seat up and more than 63 cubic feet when folded down, and it can tow up to 1,500 pounds. A turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine provides the power.
Commercial-Level GMC Vehicles Get Work Done
Sometimes, you need a vehicle that is fully dedicated to getting work done and nothing else. The GMC Sierra 3500 pickup offers heavy-duty hauling and towing capability with a beefy rear end and optional dual axle. You can tow up to 11.400 pounds with your choice of a gasoline-fueled 6.0-liter V8 or a very potent Duramax 6.6-liter diesel engine. A 34-gallon fuel tank gives it plenty of touring range.
When you want to mostly haul people or carry cargo that you can protect against the weather and thieves alike, the GMC Savana Van is an ideal commercial solution. You can get one with several rows of seating for up to 15 passengers or with just a pair of bucket seats in front to hold a lot of cargo in back. Two doors in front and back and sliding doors on the sides give easy access for people and enable easy cargo loading and unloading.
The GMC Savana comes standard with a 4.3-liter V6 that is good for up to 276 horsepower. You also could choose a 6.6-liter V8 that delivers more than 400 horsepower or a 2.8-liter Duramax turbodiesel that gives you 181 horsepower under the hood but much longer touring range with better fuel economy.
